Jack N' Jill

Jack N' Jill is a one button platformer game. I wanted to make something that was more suitable for a touch screen this time around, and I enjoy playing (as well as making) platformers a lot. So a one button platformer seemed like a great idea. I also went for a more old school look and feel with the monochrome pixel art graphics and the retro music, as a tribute to the old platformers of the classic gameboy era (like Super Mario Land).

The object of the game is to help Jack find Jill, who is waiting at the end of each level. The game requires the player to tap (or in many cases to not tap) the screen at the right times in order to get past environmental obstacles and enemies.

Here are a few screenshots of the game:

I hope you enjoy playing the game as much as I enjoyed making it!

  1. What engine do you use? I use Stencyl for a lot of developing when it comes to these style of games. I love both Jack and Jill and Helm Knight 2 by the way!

    1. Thanks a lot for playing my games!

I actually used my own little framework/engine, written in C++, for programming these two games. I've heard of Stencyl before but haven't really tried it. I find that I am more comfortable writing code based on my requirements than using a third party engine.
